Suite for Solo Cello
by Gaspar Cassadó
Cello20th CenturySuite~18 minprofessional
Written in 1926 by the great Catalan cellist and student of Casals, this three-movement suite is the most important solo cello work between Bach and Kodály. Spanish folk elements permeate the Preludio-Fantasia, the Sardana evokes Catalan dance rhythms, and the Intermezzo e Danza finale combines lyricism with fiery virtuosity.
