Home Piano Johann Sebastian Bach

Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C major (WTC I), BWV 846

by Johann Sebastian Bach

PianoHarpsichordBaroquePrelude and Fugue~4 minintermediate

The opening piece of The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I. The Prelude's flowing broken chords became the foundation for Gounod's Ave Maria. The four-voice fugue is a model of contrapuntal writing and one of the first pieces many students encounter when studying Bach.
