The first of six suites for unaccompanied cello. Composed during Bach's tenure as Kapellmeister in Cöthen, the suite consists of six movements: Prélude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Menuets I & II, and Gigue. The Prélude is especially famous for its flowing arpeggiated figures.
